A Senate hearing Wednesday on the defense of marriage act featuring testimonials from same-sex couples as well as words from LGBT advocates calling for passage of legislation to end the abrogation of the Anti -gay.
The hearing, held before the Senate Judiciary Committee, was the first to Congress on the repeal of DOMA, the 1996 law banning federal recognition of same-sex marriages. The hearing was intended to highlight the respect of Marriage Act, legislation pending in Congress that would repeal DOMA.
